WhatsApp is developing a new feature that will let users share their status updates on Instagram, much like Facebook already lets users share an Instagram story. As of right now, all that is known about the feature’s development are screenshots from the Android WhatsApp beta.
The new WhatsApp feature, which WABetaInfo uncovered, will let users update both their Instagram story and WhatsApp status at the same time with a single tap, allowing them to post status updates on Instagram without ever leaving the messaging app.
Users of WhatsApp can now directly share updates about their status on Facebook stories. The option to share WhatsApp status updates on Facebook and Instagram will soon be available to users with this upcoming feature.
User activation is undoubtedly required in order to share a WhatsApp post on Instagram, just like it is with Instagram and the current cross-posting settings between Facebook and WhatsApp. This implies that users’ WhatsApp status updates won’t be posted automatically to Instagram unless they specifically opt for the feature to be enabled by going into Settings.
Similar to Facebook and WhatsApp cross-posting, users will still be able to choose which status update to post on Facebook or Instagram stories even after they have enabled this feature. Users will also be able to disable this setting at any time.
With this feature, Mark Zuckerberg’s goal of having all Meta apps work on multiple platforms is one step closer to reality. The feature’s launch date is currently unknown, but since it’s still in the beta stage, if all goes well, it should be available in the upcoming months.
