WhatsApp is adding audio updates, polls, and more administrators to its broadcasting tool, Channels.
Channel owners can now speak updates to followers, according to the business. Engaging audiences may really benefit from this, particularly those who host podcasts and may release previews of upcoming episodes. WhatsApp reported that 7 billion voice communications are sent every day by its 2 billion users.
Channel owners also have the ability to add polls to their channels. Emoji reactions were the sole option to interact with a post on a channel in the past.
Additionally, the firm is introducing the capability to share Channel updates to individual WhatsApp Statuses, which is the Stories element of the chat program. Users can add content from Channels to their Stories on Instagram using a similar technique. Channel administrators can use it as a clever approach to tell individuals in their network about their channel.
WhatsApp introduced the Channels feature in June 2023 in Singapore and Columbia. A month later, in September 2023, the service was made available everywhere. The program only supported one admin per channel at the time. However, the Meta-owned business will now permit up to 16 administrators per channel. By using the “Invite admins” feature on the channel description page, the owner can ask other people to become administrators.
More than 500 million users use WhatsApp every month, and the platform has seen rapid growth in its Channels.
