In collaboration with PUMA, BMW Motorsport has introduced a distinctive line of lifestyle goods designed by renowned artist Alexander Calder and modelled after the famous 1975 BMW Art Car. The first BMW Art Car was designed by Calder, a key figure in American modernism, to whom our new Capsule Collection pays homage. Despite experiencing technical difficulties, Calder’s BMW 3.0 CSL, with vehicle number 93, quickly became a classic during the Le Mans 24-hour race.
The BMW Art Car Capsule Collection authentically emulates Calder’s style of painting, which is distinguished by bold hues and flowing surfaces. After a previous collection honouring the 100th birthday of pop art artist Roy Lichtenstein, BMW M Motorsport and PUMA are collaborating once again to carry on the history of BMW Art Cars.
The entire summer wardrobe is available in the Capsule Collection, with each item painstakingly created with striking colour combinations influenced by Calder’s BMW 3.0 CSL. Available separately, the collection consists of a shirt, shorts, a cap, two T-shirts and trainers.
Highlights of the Collection:
BMW M MOTORSPORT AC SHIRT:
This striking tee has PUMA branding, artist initials sewn on it, and vivid colour blocking reminiscent of Calder. High quality and a sporty, casual fit are combined with color-coordinated buttons and a woven BMW M Motorsport label. It costs €100 and is made of 75% new cotton and 25% recycled cotton.
BMW M MOTORSPORT AC SHORTS:
These shorts have the same bold colours and loose fit as the shirt, along with a PUMA logo and BMW M badge. Practicality is increased by a side pocket and an elastic waistline with a drawstring. They cost €80 and are made of the same cotton blend.
BMW M MOTORSPORT AC T-SHIRTS:
These two white T-shirts combine comfort and urban style with 30% recycled and 70% recovered cotton. At €70, the AC1 TEE has an embroidered initial design and is inspired by Calder. Priced at €70, the AC2 TEE features a sizable BMW Art Car graphic on the reverse side, complete with subtle insignia and a woven label.
BMW M MOTORSPORT AC CAP:
This five-panel baseball cap has PUMA and BMW emblems along with colour blocking reminiscent of Calder. Costing €50, an adjustable metal clasp guarantees a snug fit.
BMW M MOTORSPORT AC SNEAKER SUEDE:
Inspired by PUMA’s classic style, the collection’s trainers dazzle with graphic elements, PUMA Formstrips, and red suede. At €120, they come with a BMW metal pin and a PUMA brand badge.
