Tata Punch EV Exceeds 68K Units Since 2020, And Nexon EV Hits 10K Sales in 5 Months

With the widest range of mass-market EV options available, from all-electric SUVs to entry-level hatchbacks, Tata is now the market leader. There are two options in the SUV market: the Punch EV and the Nexon EV. Since their respective market launches, the Punch EV and Nexon EV have had enormous demand because to the popularity of SUVs and the surge in desire for EVs. The Punch EV reached the 10,000 unit sales milestone in just 5 months after introduction, while its larger sibling, the Nexon EV, has sold over 68,000 units since its 2020 launch.

Features and Safety

The features of the Nexon EV include a wireless phone charger, a sunroof, a 12.3-inch touchscreen system with Android Auto and Apple Carplay, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, a 9-speaker JBL system, automatic air conditioning with rear vents, and front ventilated seats. In contrast, the Punch EV has two screens: an infotainment screen and an instrument panel, both measuring 10.25 inches. An air purifier, six speakers, cruise control, ambient lighting, and a sunroof are among the other conveniences.

Both SUVs come equipped with six airbags as standard equipment, an all-wheel disc brake system, an electronic parking brake with auto hold, and a 360-degree camera for further safety. In addition, it has hill hold control, hill descent control, and blind spot vision monitor. You also get front parking sensors with the Nexon EV. Both the Nexon EV and the Punch EV recently underwent crash testing by Bharat NCAP, and both received 5-star ratings.

Additionally, there are three different drive modes available for both SUVs: Eco, City, and Sport. Four levels of multi-mode regenerative braking are also included.

Price and Rivals

Priced between Rs 10.99 lakh and Rs 15.49 lakh (ex-showroom), the Tata Punch EV is a premium substitute for the Tata Tiago EV and MG Comet EV and rivals the Citroen eC3. The Tata Nexon EV, on the other hand, is more reasonably priced than the MG ZS EV and Hyundai Kona Electric, with a pricing range of Rs 14.49 lakh to Rs 19.49 lakh. It competes directly with the Mahindra XUV400 EV.
