With Tiger 3, Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif will surpass Shah Rukh Khan & DP’s total box office receipts by almost half!
Tiger 3, a spy universe film starring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif, is set to hit theatres on November 12 for Diwali. This, directed by Maneesh Sharma, is the third entry in the Spy World series, which began in 2012 with Kabir Khan’s Ek Tha Tiger. Although this will be Sal-Kat’s third Tiger movie, it will be their seventh together!
For the first time, Salman and Katrina worked together on David Dhawan’s comedy film Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya, which came out in 2005. During this period, Bhaijaan’s comedic timing and this comedy film, which also starred Sushmita Sen, Sohail Khan, and Arshad Warsi, were doing well at the box office.
Although Katrina Kaif appeared in Ram Gopal Varma’s Sarkar and made her film debut in Boom in 2003, she was reintroduced to the public with Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya and became an instant hit as Salman Khan’s new leading lady. But when they worked together again on a David Dhawan movie, Partner (2007), Kat wasn’t paired with Salman. In fact, Katrina and Govinda made for an odd couple in the movie that was plausible enough to create curiosity. At the box office, the movie was a success.
The next project Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif worked on together was Subhash Ghai’s Yuvraaj (2008), which was a box office failure. Their first blockbuster collab came with Yash Raj Film’s Ek Tha Tiger in 2012, and the film collected 198 crore at the Box Office. Tiger Zinda Hai, the Spy World sequel, came next and brought in 339 crore at the box office, making a total of 537 crore from the two Tiger films.
Salman and Katrina got back together for Bharat in 2019, which was their sixth movie together, before teaming up again for Tiger 3 in 2023. Although the movie did well, it was not a clear hit. It’s interesting to note that Priyanka Chopra was originally set to lead Ali Abbas Zafar’s movie,but at the last second, she left, with Kat saving the day.
With Tiger 3, Katrina Kaif and Salman Khan are meeting up for the seventh time, and they will take their aggregate absolute across 1000 crore without a doubt. Notwithstanding, this number will be considerably less than Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone’s very nearly 1700 crore complete with five movies.
