The 1,300 cc twin-cylinder engine powering the BMW R 1300 GS generates 149 Nm of peak torque and 145 horsepower at 7,750 rpm.
The premium R 1300 GS will be available for purchase in India starting today at a price of Rs. 20.95 lakh (ex-showroom). This announcement was made by BMW Motorrad India. The price has increased by Rs. 40,000 in relation to the previous BMW R 1250 GS. BMW does not sell alloy wheels in India; instead, all of its models are sold with spoked wheels that are shod in tubeless tyres.
In terms of performance, the BMW R 1300 GS is powered by a bigger 1,300 cc twin that produces more horsepower and torque than the R 1250 GS. The engine has a maximum power output of 145 horsepower at 7,750 rpm and 149 Nm of peak torque at 6,500 rpm (an increase of 11 horsepower and 6 Nm). It is shaft drive coupled to a six-speed gearbox.
Compared to the R 1250 GS, the 2024 BMW R 1300 GS weighs 12 kg less, tipping the scales at 237 kg. With a fuel tank capacity of 19 litres, it weighs 1 kilogramme less than the previous model. With the exception of the entry-level Light White, the German manufacturer offers the Touring package as standard on all other models. It has a number of useful features.
These include chromed-out exhaust header pipes, pannier mounts, knuckle guard extenders, and adaptive LED headlight units. It is important to note that the only version with the option to add Adaptive Ride Height technology is the Triple Black. BMW does, however, provide the Dynamic and Comfort packages with the R 1300 GS as standard equipment.
They make it possible for features like the electronic windscreen, centre stand, pro riding modes, bidirectional quickshifter, and much more. The top-of-the-line Option 719 Tramuntana is limited to this specific model and is the only vehicle with radar-based safety systems including Active Cruise Control and Front Collision Warning.
The four ride modes (Eco, Rain, Road, and Enduro), keyless entry, heated grips, tyre pressure management, hill start assist, and brake assist are additional highlights. Reservations are available, and it competes with the Ducati Multistrada V4 and the Honda Africa Twin.
