Toyota is preparing to enter the competitive market segment with the Taisor, which will be unveiled in India on April 3, 2024. Joining Toyota’s lineup of rebadged models, the Taisor is effectively a rebadged Maruti Suzuki Fronx. Other rebadged models include the Rumion, Urban Cruiser Hyryder, and Glanza, which are based on the Maruti Baleno and Ertiga, respectively.
Toyota Taisor: Details of the Engine
It is anticipated that the Taisor would come with the same powertrain choices as the Maruti Fronx. A 1.0-liter three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine with 100PS and 148Nm of torque and a 1.2-liter four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine with 90PS and 113Nm of torque are among the options available. A six-speed torque converter automatic, a five-speed AMT, and a five-speed manual are probably the available gearbox options.
In terms of fuel efficiency, the 1.2-liter version is anticipated to provide 21.79 kmpl when paired with a five-speed manual gearbox and 22.89 kmpl when paired with a five-speed automatic manual gearbox. Conversely, it is projected that the 1.0-liter version will provide 21.5 mpg when paired with a five-speed manual gearbox and 20.01 mpg when paired with a six-speed automatic gearbox.
Toyota Taisor: Interior & Design
The Taisor is anticipated to carry over most of the Maruti Fronx’s design cues for the exterior and interior, with the addition of some unique features like alloy wheels, a grille, and bumpers, as well as maybe additional colour possibilities. The interior design of the cabin is probably going to stay the same as that of the Fronx, but with upgraded touchscreen infotainment system and Toyota branding on the steering wheel. An analogue instrument cluster with a colour MID, a wireless phone charger, keyless entry with push-button start, a nine-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and potentially new upholstery are all possible features of the Taisor.
