Sales of cars and SUVs increased, indicating a robust market. Maruti is still the market leader, but Tata’s substantial SUV presence and Mahindra’s return point to a competitive future. The Indian automobile market is expanding thanks to innovation and diversification.
1. Baleno Maruti:
Compact and fashionable, the Maruti Baleno hatchback is renowned for its fuel efficiency. With 19,630 sales, it was the best-selling vehicle in India in January 2024. This is a 20.01% rise over January 2023 sales.
2. Punch by Tata:
In October 2021, the Tata Punch, a micro-SUV, made its debut in India. Its roomy interior and affordable pricing helped it gain popularity immediately. With 17,978 sales, it was the second-best-selling vehicle in India in January 2024. By comparison, the sales in January 2023 had increased by 49.74%.
3. Maruti Waggon R:
Maruti WagonR is a tallboy hatchback that has long been a favourite among Indian consumers. With sales of 17,756 units, it was the third-best-selling vehicle in India in January 2024. That being said, this is a 13.24% drop from January 2023 sales.
4. Nexon by Tata:
A subcompact SUV renowned for its performance and safety features is the Tata Nexon. With sales of 17,182 units, it ranked as the fourth best-selling vehicle in India in January 2024. This amounts to a 10.37% rise in revenue compared to January 2023.
5. The Maruti Dzire
The Swift hatchback serves as the foundation for the Maruti Dzire, a compact sedan. With 16,773 sales, it ranked as the seventh best-selling vehicle in India in January 2024. This amounts to a 48.21% rise in sales as compared to January 2023.
6. Maruti Swift:
One hatchback that is well-known for its performance and handling is the Maruti Swift. With 15,370 sales, it ranked as the sixth best-selling vehicle in India in January 2024. This is less than the sales from January 2023 by 6.51%.
7. The Maruti Brezza:
In 2016, Maruti Brezza, a subcompact SUV, made its debut in India. With 15,303 sales, it ranked eighth among all cars sold in India in January 2024. In comparison to sales in January 2023, this indicates a rise of 6.57%.
8. The Maruti Ertiga
An MPV renowned for both its adaptability and roomy cabin is the Maruti Ertiga. With 14,632 sales, it ranked as the ninth best-selling vehicle in India in January 2024. Comparing these sales to January 2023 sales, there has been a 50.07% rise.
9. Maruti Suzuki Scorpio/N:
The mid-size SUV Mahindra Scorpio is renowned for its off-road prowess. A new iteration of the Scorpio, the Mahindra Scorpio N, was introduced in India in June 2022. With 14,293 sales, they were combined the ninth best-selling vehicle in India in January 2024. This is a 64.00% increase over the January 2023 sales figures.
10. The Maruti Fronx:
On April 23, the new crossover SUV Maruti Fronx was introduced in India. With 13,643 sales, it ranked as the tenth best-selling vehicle in India in January 2024.
With seven vehicles making the cut, Maruti Suzuki automobiles dominated the top 10 list overall. Mahindra had one vehicle while Tata Motors had two on the list.
