This late spring, Google will use the north of 1 billion Android gadgets out there to find tracker labels and earphones. Find My Device will receive a new logo as part of this.
The Android Find My Device app’s icon has been a white pin with a phone in the center and a green background for several years. It conveyed the application’s map-based nature. It was altered by Google in 2022 to remove shadows and better match other contemporary logos.
We found it odd that the green icon didn’t change after the Find My Device app was completely redesigned in February with Material You.
Since then, we have come across the brand-new Find My Device logo. With a crosshair design in the four company colors that also evokes radar and scanning, Google is continuing the maps/location theme. It’s not as literal as the previous version, but tablets, watches, and headphones have all been added to Find My Device, so it’s no longer just for phones.
The logo’s obvious visual flaw is that it will blend in with the other blue, red, yellow, and green icons on your phone. Remaining green, which evoked a feeling of safety and Android to some extent, would have better recognized the application, particularly since it’s one that you may be searching for in a frenzy. Google has recently demonstrated a willingness to delay the introduction of the four-color design to Play Books apps. However, Arts & Culture and Google Authenticator clearly went in the opposite direction.
When the Find My Device network launches later this summer, this icon probably will appear. Google will allow you to see the area of tracker labels, earphones (sending off later), and your cell phones. By playing a sound, the app will tell you when something is close.
Google says “area information publicly supported from the organization is start to finish scrambled, which guarantees Google can’t see or involve it for some other purposes,” with additional subtleties on the underlying protection shields preceding the send off.
