The first look at the impending movie about Michael Jackson was really suspenseful.
Cinema owners at CinemaCon received an exclusive first look at filmmaker Antoine Fuqua’s “Michael” (released April 18, 2025), which is presently in production and stars Jaafar Jackson, the nephew of the King of Pop, as the music legend.
“Michael, you have a very special light. So let your light shine unto the world,” MJ’s mother Katherine (Nia Long) says, In the first video, the legend performed all the sultry moves that fans are accustomed to seeing him do in concert with the Jackson 5.
Michael Jackson, Jaafar Jackson’s uncle, is the subject of the upcoming film “Michael.”
The first clip, which was primarily set to “Man in the Mirror,” had a variety of musical moments as well as family life and some of the darker aspects, such being overtaken by the public and being taken to the hospital.
Producer Graham King (“Bohemian Rhapsody”) pledged during a Lionsgate presentation that the biopic would address both Jackson’s controversy and his musical accomplishments, which included over thirty songs.”There are biopics, and then there is Michael,” remarked King, characterizing him as “an enigma full of eccentricities.”
King continued, saying that Jackson “was a simple man who lived a complicated life.” “When you mention his name, everyone has an opinion of him.” Preparing his life for the screen has also proven to be “a daunting task to say the least.”
The ensemble of “Michael” also features Miles Teller as lawyer John Branca, Larenz Tate as Berry Gordy, Oscar candidate Colman Domingo as grandfather Joe Jackson, and Kat Graham as Diana Ross.
“still exploring what I love about” Domingo remarked, adding, “and the one thing I’ve found so far is how strong he was.”
