Emirates has declared that starting in June 2024, it will operate daily flights from Miami (MIA) to Bogota, Colombia (BOG).
On February 9, 2024, the airline based in Dubai submitted an application to operate the route to the Aeronáutica Civil de Colombia – Aerocivil, the Colombian aviation authority. This application will now start the approval procedure. This can also entail hearing out any parties who would like to voice concerns.
The present Dubai (DXB) to Miami (MIA) route offered by Emirates, which runs every day on a Boeing 777-300ER, will be expanded with this new service.
Emirates will take advantage of the several-hour gap between its arrival and departure flights at Miami to move people and goods to and from the Colombian capital using its fifth freedom privileges.
Emirates offers flights between Barcelona (BCN) and Mexico City (MEX), Athens and Newark-Liberty (EWR), Milan-Malpensa (MXP) and New York-JFK, among other fifth freedom destinations in the Americas.
If approved, Bogota will join Mexico City, Buenos Aires (EZE) in Argentina, Sao Paulo (GRU), and Rio de Janeiro (GIG) in Brazil as Emirates’ fifth Latin American destination.
