The 2024 Chevy Trax, which debuted in October 2022, is the first in a completely new series of entry-level crossovers. It comes with additional interior space, a new engine, a new design, and altered external measurements. The 2024 Chevy Trax was hailed as “legitimately good” by GM Authority during our early-year drive, when we also noted the crossover’s attractive appearance, cosy inside, and agile driving dynamics. Car & Driver has now included the 2024 Chevy Trax to its list of the top 10 trucks and SUVs, confirming those feelings.
The article draws attention to the 2024 Chevy Trax’s greater proportions, noting that the most recent model’s overall length has increased by 11 inches above that of the previous model. In addition, the Trax’s 106.3-inch wheelbase is noted for matching that of the Honda CR-V, which is thought to be a class larger than the new Trax. The interior of the Trax feels surprisingly roomy for a vehicle in this segment thanks to a 37-percent increase in cargo volume behind the rear seats and three inches of additional rear legroom.
The magazine expressed satisfaction with the Chevy Trax’s handling as well, praising the crossover’s “solid competence” in terms of steering and braking feel, which were deemed to be above average.
With a maximum output of 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque from its turbocharged 1.2L I3 LIH gasoline engine, which is connected to the front wheels via a GM six-speed automatic gearbox, the vehicle’s acceleration was also deemed to be fairly sufficient. Although a little slow by today’s standards, the 8.8-second sprint to 60 mph completes the task efficiently. It also does so silently, as the newspaper notes that the standard active noise cancellation technology significantly reduces cabin decibel levels.
Additional interior features include an 8.0-inch touchscreen, Wi-Fi, and standard wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Higher in the range is an 11.0-inch screen.
