The Ocean-X concept car, which carries over the design language of the BYD Seal, serves as an influence for the BYD Sea Lion 07. The headlights are similar to those on the BYD Seal, and the exterior has a sleek, modern appearance. The new vehicle also has door handles that retract. The BYD Seal and its rear design are likewise comparable. It features a roof spoiler, a “ducktail” spoiler, and a continuous taillight. Rather than having “Build Your Dreams” displayed at the back, the BYD logo is simpler to see.
Although the Sea Lion 07’s exterior resembles the BYD Seal saloon, BYD has added numerous advancements to the vehicle. The e-Platform 3.0 Evo represents a noteworthy advancement over the e-Platform 3.0. It enhances the charging capability and powertrain’s improved integration.
Increased frontal collision safety is achieved by 60% with enhanced CTB (Cell-to-body battery) integration technology; passenger cabin deformation resistance is improved by 50%; regional body strength surpasses industry standards by over 60%; and passenger cabin intrusion during collisions is reduced by less than 5 mm.
With a maximum speed of 225 km/h, the 12-in-1 smart e-drive system boasts the fastest production motor in the world, operating at 23,000 rpm. By integrating essential parts into a single unit, BYD’s cutting-edge electric motor system increases dependability and efficiency.
The new vehicle has three drivetrain options. There are electric motors with 230 kW and 170 kW power outputs available in the two-wheel drive variants. In the meantime, the two motors in the four-wheel drive vehicle have maximum power outputs of 160 kW and 230 kW. The dual-motor model has a range of 550 km, while the single-motor variant has two range options: 550 km and 610 km. With 0-100 acceleration times of 7.3 and 6.7 seconds, respectively, the maximum torque is 380 N·m. The battery has a 71.8 kWh and an 80.64 kWh capacity.
In 25 minutes, the BYD Sea Lion 07 can be charged from 10% to 80%. Being the first in the world, it can fully utilise the 180kW (750V / 250A) maximum capacity of the current GB15 (China’s charging network standard) public DC fast charging.
With 12 ultrasonic radars, 5 mm-wave radars, and 11 cameras incorporated into the DiPilot 100 “God’s Eye” ADAS, the Sea Lion 07 is the first BYD vehicle equipped with this technology. In addition to traffic sign recognition, intelligent speed control, adaptive cruise control, lane departure aid, and lane-keep assist, it provides enhanced L2 driver assistance.
Its wheelbase is 2930 mm, and its dimensions are 4830/1925/1620 mm. Its capacity is 58 litres in the frunk and 500 litres in the boot.
The BYD Sea Lion 07 features a 50-inch AR-HUD, a crystal gear selector, tactile buttons for key controls, and a four-spoke steering wheel with a flat bottom. The DiLink 100 system, which is driven by a 6nm semiconductor that supports voice control, powers the 15.6-inch central screen. The cabin’s ambient lights have a maximum colour spectrum of 128. A 12-speaker Dynaudio sound system is installed in the vehicle. Additional features include NFC keyless entry, a karaoke system, and a 220V laptop power supply.
