The assignments for the 91st Academy Awards will be announced and keeping in mind that that is only a few of days away, that is not stopping Sharknado producers from making a push for a few of Oscars.
Over on Twitter The Asylum – the film studio and producers in charge of Sharknado as well as various other purported “mockbusters” just as Syfy’s Z Nation – posted their demand that they not be looked over for the Oscars this year, energetically noting that they know they were simply forgotten in previous years.
“Don’t forget to give us a few Oscars this year,” the post peruses. “We think a few is most fitting because of all the past years we didn’t get any… we know… you forgot. It’s cool. We will take the W in all classifications this year to compensate for it. Sound great?”
Presently, before anybody gets distrustful and begin thinking about whether if they are serious, it’s quite certain that The Asylum isn’t generally though if there were a category for “Best Shark on Dinosaur Fight” the film would be a shoo in for sure. Rather, the tweet is especially with regards to the studio’s flippant interpretation of crafted by real studios. Six of The Asylum’s movies released in 2018 were riffs off of actual blockbusters, for example, Megalodon rather than The Meg, Atlantic Rim:Resurrection instead of Pacific Rim Uprising, and Triassic World instead of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.
While The Asylum is exceedingly far-fetched to get any Oscar nods, a portion of the movies they riff off of could. In particular, Avengers: Infinity War (The Asylum’s Avengers Grimm: Time Wars is the mockbuster of the Marvel Studios hit) is probably going to get no less than a couple of selections in a bunch of classifications. The Marvel Cinematic Universe film is on the wait list for the Original Score and Visual Effects classes. Justice fighters: Infinity War has effectively gotten some noteworthy honors love with designations from the British Academy Film Awards, Critics’ Choice Awards, Satellite Awards, and Screen Actors Guild Award, the latter of which sees the film nominated for “Outstanding Performance by a Stunt Ensemble in a Motion Picture.”
