The Honda Civic Si and the fun little hatchback Acura Integra share a powertrain. It was anticipated that Acura would eventually produce a sister model to the Type R, which has more than 300 HP, since the Si has a bigger brother in the Type R. It has now been established.
The first teasers for the upcoming 2024 Integra Type S were released by Acura on Monday. The manufacturer didn’t give away too many details, only stating that the engine, a 2.0-liter turbocharged I4, produces more than 300 horsepower and only works with a six-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential.
Acura released teaser images of a camouflaged Type S. Although many of the car’s details are still hidden, the aggressive bodywork hidden beneath the vinyl wrap is easy to see. It is probably reasonable to assume that the Integra Type S will carry the Type R’s powertrain with very few changes, if any. The front bumper is much angrier, and the rear bumper, like the Type R, has a tri-tip exhaust in the middle. In the Kind R, that 2.0-liter turbocharged I4 produces 315 hp and 310 pound-feet of force, which was somewhat worked on over the past age. I can confirm that the Type R is one seriously rowdy hot hatch after spending some time with it on the street and at the track. The Acura should also be a pretty enjoyable experience.
