Over the course of the next 12 to 18 months, Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) looks to be preparing to introduce up to three new SUVs in India. One of these planned products is an entirely new electric SUV that is scheduled to launch in the later half of 2025 and be built on the same platform as the Maruti Suzuki eVX.
The Japanese automaker may launch two new hybrid SUVs prior to the release of the electric SUV.
1. Toyota Electric SUV:
Toyota is planning to release its first electric SUV in H2 2025; it will borrow design elements from the prototype Urban SUV that was unveiled a year ago. Its driving range is said to be as much as 550 kilometres. Using a version of Toyota’s 27PL platform, this new electric car will have much of the same parts and architecture as the future Maruti Suzuki eVX. The SUV’s interior will be furnished with a plethora of features and technologies, such as floating touchscreen entertainment system, all-digital instrument cluster, and advanced driver assistance systems.
2. Toyota Fortuner MHEV:
South Africa is one of the international markets where Toyota now offers the Fortuner MHEV for sale. It will have a 2.8L four-cylinder GD series diesel engine paired with a 48-volt mild hybrid system. The MHEV technology contributes to reduced emissions and increased fuel efficiency while improving performance, especially during acceleration and low-speed driving.
Although the Toyota Fortuner’s mild hybrid electric vehicle version’s precise launch date is unknown, it is anticipated that the SUV will make its appearance in 2025 or later this year.
3. 7-Seater Toyota Hyryder:
Early or mid-2025 is when the 7-seat Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder is expected to be released. It will face competition from other three-row SUVs, including the Hyundai Alcazar, Mahindra XUV300, Tata Safari, MG Hector Plus, and Citroen C3 Aircross. To set itself apart from the conventional model, this updated version will have new features in addition to cosmetic improvements. It will still have the same 1.5L mild hybrid and 1.5L strong hybrid petrol engines, though.
