The Safari EV, a three-row variant of the already-confirmed Harrier EV, will be among the Tata SUVs that are expected to be electrified, along with the rest of the portfolio. We recently came across a Safari EV test mule that was heavily camouflaged throughout testing. Similar to the newly released Punch EV, Tata’s new Acti.EV technology will underpin the electric variant of the Safari.
The Safari EV and its ICE (internal combustion engine) equivalent share a similar design, despite the test mule’s extensive disguise. The front grille, linked LED DRLs, and headlight housing up front all seem to share similarities with the standard Safari. The alloy wheels appear to be a different design, although they should measure the same 19 inches as the Safari’s diesel-powered counterpart. The Safari EV has the same linked LED taillights on the back as well.
Interior Updates
Tata Safari EV, however it will probably have a dashboard design and a 4-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated Tata logo identical to that of the ICE version. A 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, dual-zone air conditioning, ventilated front and back seats, and a panoramic sunroof are among the anticipated features of the Safari EV.
Up to seven airbags, a 360-degree camera with a blind spot monitor, electronic stability control (ESC), and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) are possible safety features.
Expected Range
Tata has not yet disclosed the details of the Safari EV’s electric engine and battery pack, but they anticipate that it will have a range of about 500 kilometres. Tata’s new Acti.EV platform will power the Tata Safari’s electric variant. Given that the Harrier EV will come with an all-wheel-drive option, the Safari EV might also have it available.
Expected Price & Rivals
With an ex-showroom starting price of Rs 32 lakh, the Tata Safari EV might be quite expensive. By early 2025, it may be available for purchase in India. Compared to the MG ZS EV, Hyundai Kona Electric, BYD Atto 3, and the soon-to-come Maruti eVX, the Safari EV will be a larger option.
