There is no shortage of businesses redesigning the iconic Land Rover Defender, and more have recently emerged. The company, called Legend Motor Co., was founded in Salt Lake City, Utah, by three enthusiasts who wanted to modernise the legendary off-road vehicle.
The company’s debut project, called the Signature Series 001, was just completed, and it definitely lives up to its moniker. This car is based on a Jeep Wrangler JK chassis, but instead of the stock engine, a 6.2-liter naturally aspirated V8 engine with 460 horsepower and 465 lb-ft (630 Nm) of torque has been installed. Even while it may not have as much horsepower as the 518 of the contemporary Defender V8, these numbers are still very remarkable.
Numerous more improvements have been made. For example, the Defender now has fully adjustable Fox 2.5 remote reservoir shocks, Wilwood brakes, and a large 22.5-gallon fuel tank. For the Land Rover, Legend Motor Co. has also meticulously created new aluminium body panels lined with Kevlar. In addition, the off-road vehicle has a set of sturdy aftermarket wheels and tyres that protrude past the wheel arches.
An new interior is essential to a total restomod project, and that’s exactly what the Utah-based firm has done. The hand-sewn, full-aniline leather that adorns the seats looks incredibly elegant. The Land Rover now has a custom leather-clad steering wheel and a new dashboard installed by the firm. Additionally, the improved music system features a large subwoofer housed in a tailboard and a swing-out tyre carrier.
As one might anticipate, the Legend Motor Co.’s restomod Defenders are not inexpensive; starting costs are high at $250,000.
