Mercedes AMG CLE 53 Coupe Debuts Worldwide With An Inline 6-Cylinder Hybrid Drivetrain

Mercedes-Benz is planning to add more performance-focused cars to its AMG portfolio, which will sharpen it. The AMG CLE 53 Coupe, which takes the place of the defunct E 53 Coupe, is the most recent addition to the list. The German brand’s 53 Coupe is positioned above the C 43 AMG sedan in the CLE class range.

Exterior Design of the Mercedes AMG CLE 53 Coupe

The AMG CLE 53 Coupe adopts a low-slung, cab-forward posture similar to previous sports coupes. It has AMG’s recognisable Panamericana grille up front, with svelte LED projector headlights with built-in DRLs on either side. The front bumper’s massive air splitters with gloss black inlays give the face an aggressive appearance. It has a long hood with two power domes integrated in the front end.

Among the most noticeable visual elements of the side profile are the long, sloping roofline towards the back, flared wheel arches and a sharply sloping windscreen. The vehicle is equipped with 19-inch AMG alloy wheels that have been blacked out, while 20-inch wheels are an option. With a boot lid-mounted spoiler, wraparound LED taillights, and—most importantly—a chrome-tip quad exhaust arrangement on either side of a large diffuser, the rear end receives the signature AMG appearance.

Wider door sills, an updated rear bumper, and AMG-specific door mirrors are some more striking visual features. Additional design modifications, including as bumper flicks, a bigger rear spoiler, and a decorative diffuser board between the tail pipes, are included with the optional AMG Optics package. Additionally, 58mm wider tracks have been added to the CLE 53 Coupe’s existing tracks.

Features and Interiors of the Mercedes AMG CLE 53 Coupe

The inside of the cabin are covered in Microcut black microfiber and Artico man-made leather, accented with red contrasting topstitching and AMG-specific logos. Nappa leather upholstery covers the front seats, which have the AMG crest engraved on the headrests. An optional feature are the AMG performance seats with upgraded seat bolsters.

Seatbelts, carbon trim, and red stitching set the AMG apart from the standard lineup. AMG-only features include a three-spoke, flat-bottom steering wheel, ambient lighting with 64 colours, an instrument console measuring 12.3 inches, and an infotainment display with a central touchscreen measuring 11.9 inches.

Performance of the Mercedes AMG CLE 53 Coupe

What’s under the hood, though, is the real attraction. The 3.0-liter inline 6-cylinder, twin-turbocharged petrol engine and 48V mild hybrid system power the AMG CLE 53 Coupe. Together with the help of an integrated starter-generator (ISG) that temporarily produces an extra 23 horsepower and 204 Nm of torque during acceleration, this powertrain produces 443 horsepower and 560 Nm of peak torque.

Mercedes’ 4Matic all-wheel drive system provides power to all four wheels with a 9-speed automatic gearbox. Along with two driving modes (Race and Drift), there are five drive programmes (Slippery, Comfort, Sport, Sport, and Individual) available.

The AMG CLE 53 Coupe has a performance rating of 4.2 seconds for a 0 to 100 kmph sprint. The top speed is 250 kmph, but if you choose the Driver’s Package, you can go as fast as 270 kmph. AMG’s ride control suspension, which provides a dynamic ride quality, is another advantage of the 53 Coupe. Three settings are available for adjustment: Comfort, Sport, and Sport+.
