Maruti Suzuki plans to introduce three new models in the next three to four years as part of a significant push into the electric car market.
It is alleged that Maruti Suzuki is now working on three whole new electric cars for the Indian market: an MPV, a hatchback, and an SUV.
1. Suzuki Maruti eVX:
After making its world premiere at the 2023 Auto Expo, the eVX idea was improved and later displayed in Tokyo. It is slated to go on sale in early or mid-2025, competing with vehicles like the Mahindra XUV400, the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV, and the Tata Curvv EV. It will have a range of about 550 kilometres and be powered by a skateboard architecture that is adapted from Toyota’s 27PL platform.
2. Maruti Suzuki YMC MPV:
It is said that Maruti Suzuki is developing its first electric MPV, codenamed YMC, for release in India in 2026. The eVX midsize e-SUV and this new vehicle will have the same architecture. Anticipated to have a 60 kWh battery pack, similar to the one that powers the eVX, with a stated range of more than 500 km.
It’s conceivable that the Maruti Suzuki YMC will open the door for a Toyota electric MPV in 2026 or 2027. Similar to the YMC, the Toyota e-MPV may also be exported from India to various international markets, which would be a big step forward for the two Japanese automakers’ joint ventures, but no formal confirmation has been made as of yet.
3.Maruti Suzuki eWX Based EV:
The Suzuki eWX concept, which denoted Suzuki’s potential foray into the mass electric car market, made its world premiere at the Japan Mobility Show in late 2023. This idea may pave the way for a future low-cost electric car designed specifically for the Indian market, according to sources. In the inexpensive EV market, it will face up against the MG Comet EV and the Tata Tiago EV.
